This study is intended to reduce the trade conflicts between Korea and the United States and to promote cooperation, by providing official policymakers as well as the interested public with an overview of U.S. trade laws. The major U.S. trade laws are The Tariff Act of 1930, The Trade Act of 1974, The Trade Agreements Act of 1979, The Trade and Tariff Act of 1984, The Omnibus Trade and Competitiveness Act of 1988 and the Uruguary Round Agreements Art of 1994. The author analyzes those trade laws, which are divided into four main sectors, functionally and systematically. Part I contains tariff and customs laws, Part II contains trade remedy laws against unfair trade practices, Part III contains import relief laws, and Part IV contains other laws regulating imports.
