The performance assessment of the operation of Korea’s Trade Adjustment Assistance program and the search for improvement

○It has been 10 years since the Trade Adjustment Assistance Act came into effect. FTA with China, the largest trading partner to Korea, was achieved in 2015. And concerns were raised that negative influences may take place over SMEs and small businesses. Therefore, it is urgently necessary to assess the operation performance of Koreas Trade Adjustment Assistance (hereinafter TAA) program, and search for ways to improve TAA in the future.


○Multi-simultaneous FTAs are negatively affecting and impacting many businesses. Therefore, this study strives to support the affected businesses and to propose ways to improve TAA program so that the program can encourage balanced development of the national economy via an analysis of TAA program of 2007 and its operation.
